Why is the COVID-19 Earnings amount on my statement different than the 2020 YTD amounts I paid my employee?

Based on Notice 2020-54, the wages reported on your separate statement include qualified sick and family leave wages. In Namely Payroll, these wages reflect the following Pay Type (earning) codes

  • Federal Paid Family Leave

  • Federal Paid Medical Leave - Tier 1

  • Federal Paid Medical Leave - Tier 2

Qualified wages, for this report, are Gross Wages that exclude any deductions that reduce Social Security and Medicare wages (i.e., Medical, Dental, and Vision). These wages also disregards the Social Security wage base.

TIP:

The purpose of the separate notice is for employees paid in Namely with a W-2 Tax Filing status and earn 1099 wages outside of their employment.
