How can I add a new deduction to Namely Payroll?

Deductions can be added and modified by anyone with Payroll Administrator access in Namely. If you need to add or make a change to a deduction, Click Company, then Deductions, and finally Add/Edit.

Namely's has configured specific deduction types to capture all of the most commonly used tax treatments; and they all have specific nuances to them.

For example, 401k Pretax, Roth, HSA, Section 125 and Post Tax should all be used for their specific purpose. It is important to select the correct 
Deduction Type when adding a deduction.

If you need to configure a Roth contribution, it would not be proper to use the Pretax deduction type. The deduction types will treat the taxes the same, but W2 mapping required for Roth contributions will not be captured if you use the Pre-Tax deduction type. It would be proper to use the Roth deduction type.
