OVERVIEW
Our new Custom Reports feature is a highly customizable reporting engine that will eventually centralize all reporting capabilities across HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits into a single tool.
The tool currently allows you to create Payroll Register reports, directly in HRIS, because it pulls in Paycheck Line data. This article will teach you how to leverage this new tool to filter, sort, and aggregate the data to build the most commonly used Custom Reports.
COMMON USE CASES
Payroll Register for the Calendar Year
Use Case: This report has the ability to aggregate data and customize certain fields for any payrolls processed over the calendar year of your choosing.
TIP:
The original Payroll Register report is hard-coded and columns can’t be reorganized. This new report allows unlimited sorting and filtering options.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Line Item Subcategory, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
Wage Information for Employees by Current State
Use Case: This report displays employee data based on a particular state from a specific date range.
TIP:
Historical states are not included in the data.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Last Name, First Name, State Worked In, Wage Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, State Worked In by specific state
Aggregate: Set to Sum on wage amount.
Other Payroll Information for Employees by Current State
Use Case: This report displays a variety of payroll information by state, such as deductions by state, earnings by state, and taxes by state.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Last Name, First Name, State Worked In, Line Item Subcategory, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, State Worked In by specific state, Line Item Subcategory by specific deductions and earnings
Aggregate: Set to Sum based on the desired category.
Yearly Commission Reports
Use Case: This report pulls aggregated data for commission-based employees to review Year-to-date Earnings.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Last Name, First Name, Line Item Subcategory, Amount.
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, Commission under the Line Item Subcategory
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
Yearly Tax Reports
Use Case: This report provides aggregated tax types based on the year within a specific jurisdiction.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Last Name, First Name, Line Item Subcategory, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, Line Item Subcategory by specific tax jurisdiction
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
Multi-EIN Reporting
Use Case: This report pulls all of your organization's general payroll information from all Namely Payroll sites. This eliminates pulling multiple payroll registers from multiple payroll sites.

Manage and organize your data by filtering by EIN!
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Line Item Subcategory, Subsidiary Name, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, Payroll Company under Subsidiary
Aggregate:Set to Sum.
Paycheck Line Reporting by EIN
Use Case: This report pulls all of your organization's payroll information from all Namely Payroll sites at a granular level. This eliminates pulling multiple payroll registers from multiple payroll sites.
TIP:
Manage and organize your data by filtering by EIN!
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Line Item Subcategory, Subsidiary Name, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, Payroll Company under Subsidiary, Line Item Subcategory.
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
Payroll Information by Pay Cycle Type (Standard, Manual, or Void)
Use Case: This report filters the data by different types of payroll (i.e., standard scheduled payrolls, manual off-cycle payrolls, or voids). It allows aggregation of Year-to-date data for scheduled payroll expenses and unexpected expenses.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Line Item Subcategory, Pay Cycle Type, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, Pay Cycle Type based on the specific type.
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
Deductions over the Full Year
Use Case: This report filters the data by different types of payroll (i.e., standard scheduled payrolls, manual off-cycle payrolls, or voids). It allows the aggregation of Year-to-date data for scheduled payroll expenses and unexpected expenses.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Last Name, First Name, Category, Amount
Filter by: Pay Cycle Pay Date in the last year, Deduction under Category.
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
Retirement Report
Use Case: This report allows you to pull your organization's retirement contributions (i.e., 401K and 403B) within a calendar year.
Instructions:
Fields to Include: Last Name, First Name, Category, Subcategory, Amount
Filter by: Deduction under Category, Subcategory based on the specific retirement deduction, employee or employer deduction (optional)
Aggregate: Set to Sum.
