How do I update an employee’s SSN on their benefits?

To update an employee's SSN on their benefits:

  1. Go to the employee's profile > click the blue Dot menu (to the right of the profile image) > Edit Profile.

  2. Enter the new date in the SSN field > Save.

    • This will auto-sync to Namely Payroll within minutes, and it will become the SSN connected to any existing or future benefit enrollments.

Things to consider:

  • If you do not have an active carrier feed in Namely, contact your carrier to inform them of your employee's changes.

  • If you do have active carrier feeds in Namely, your employee's data will be transmitted to the carrier on the next file transmission. As a best practice, Namely also advises carrier feed clients to contact the carrier to inform them of any updates.

    • Changing or updating a SSN can cause errors to the file in cases where the carrier uses the SSN to identify the employee and/or dependent.
