How Do I Terminate Benefits for Overage Dependents?

You can remove an overage dependent from your employee's benefit plans by using the Over Age-Dependent life event. Once the qualifying life event has been completed, the employee's plan will be updated and changes will be sent to carriers if feeds are configured. 

TIP: 

Removing a dependent from active benefits does not require the dependent's record to be terminated. A termination date should only be added for dependents that should no longer be associated with the employee. 

  1. From Enrollment Setup, click Employee List and select Enroll next to the employee with an overage dependent. 

  2. Select I had a major life event and need to update my benefits.

  3. Select the Over Age Dependent life event.

  4. Enter the date the dependent's coverage should be terminated (usually the birthday).

  5. Navigate through the Enrollment, unchecking the dependent on each plan you'd like to remove them from.

  6. Submit your enrollment.
