Open Enrollment Finalization Error Resolution
This article provides information on how to fix errors you might receive when attempting to finalize your Open Enrollment.
OVERVIEW
You may encounter a number of errors when attempting to finalize your Open Enrollment. They're mainly caused by pending life events, data issues or plan eligibility inconsistencies. This article explores the root causes of common errors, and provides guidance on how to fix them.
ERRORS & ACTIONS
Error: Employee cannot be passively enrolled because they need to complete their new hire enrollment first.
Action: Employees must complete their new hire enrollments before they can complete their open enrollment. Please advise the employee that they need to complete their new hire enrollment and once it's completed, you can attempt to finalize the open enrollment again.
Error: Employee has a life event that is pending approval. Please approve the pending enrollment and try again.
Action: The employee has a current life event that they have submitted but was not yet approved. Please approve or reject that enrollment first, then you can attempt to finalize the open enrollment again. You can view this pending enrollment in Namely Payroll > Enrollment Setup > Confirmation Reports.
Error: Employee is unable to enroll due to a gap in Demographic Record. Please review employee demographic tab and ensure Hire Date and Demographic Start Date Match, and that there are no gaps in demographic record.
Action: Employees must have their demographic information start at the same time or earlier than their hire date. Please update the employee’s demographic information to be inclusive of their hire date.
Error: Employee is not eligible for plan <<Plan Name>>. Please update your plan mappings or eligibility.
Action: This error appears when we’ve attempted to passively enroll an employee in a plan that they are not eligible for. If this employee should be allowed to enroll in the plan, please review that plan’s eligibility and update where necessary. If the employee was previously enrolled in an incorrect plan but you want to enroll them in the plan in question you can either update their previous enrollment via an Administrator Change, updated the future enrollment via an administrator change, or go through the Open Enrollment actively.
Error: You cannot enroll in <<Plan Name>> because you do not have a child listed as a dependent.
Action: This error presents itself when an employee is currently enrolled in a plan that requires a dependent enrollment, but the dependent is not currently enrolled. If the employee was previously enrolled incorrectly but you want to enroll them (and their dependent) in the plan in question you can either update their previous enrollment via an Administrator Change, update the future enrollment via an admin change or go through the Open Enrollment actively.
Error: You cannot waive <<Plan Name X>> if you are enrolled in <<Plan Name Y>>.
Action: This error appears when an employee is currently enrolled in a plan that requires enrollment in another plan (the most common example of this will be life and AD&D) but the employee is only enrolled in one of those plans. If the employee was previously enrolled incorrectly but you want to enroll them in the plan in question you can either update their previous enrollment via an admin change, update the future enrollment via an Administrator Change, or go through the Open Enrollment actively.
Error: Current enrolled plan volume of $X for <<Plan Name Y>> is not an available option on future plan <<Plan Name Z>>. Employee cannot be passively enrolled in this benefit.
Action: This error presents itself when an employee is currently enrolled in a volume amount that isn’t an option on the future plan it was mapped to. If the employee was previously enrolled incorrectly but you want to enroll them in the plan in question you can either update their previous enrollment via an Administrator Change, update the future enrollment via an administrator change or go through the Open Enrollment actively.
Error: Beneficiaries must add up to 100% for <<Coverage Line Name>>.
Action: This error appears the employee currently has beneficiaries on a plan where the percent allocation adds up to more than 100%. Please confirm with the employee who their beneficiaries should be and either make an Administrator Change, for the old plans to reflect them or go through the Open Enrollment actively.
Error: Cannot elect <<Plan X>> at this time because there are no remaining pay periods in your plan year.
Action: This error appears when there are zero pay cycles for the time period you are trying to enroll. Please contact Namely by submitting a case in the Help Community to have this corrected.
