How should I process benefit enrollment changes if my carrier is allowing for mid-year changes due to COVID-19?

A number of carriers are offering additional flexibility around some benefits changes stemming from COVID-19, including allowing employees who had previously waived coverage (e.g., during their previous Open Enrollment period) to enroll in plans, or to make adjustments to contributory plans (like Dependent care FSA) without a standard Qualifying Life Event.

In the event that you have an employee who is eligible and would like to make changes to their coverage, we recommend using the Administrator Change life event to make their elections for them. For more information on performing an Administrator Change, please read our Administrator Change Process Guide.

Note: The ability to process mid-plan year enrollment changes varies by carrier and by type of coverage. Please reach out to your broker for more information before processing any enrollment changes.
