How does an employee who is turning 26 and losing coverage with their parents enroll in benefits?
If an employee is losing coverage because they are turning 26 and being removed from a parent's insurance, they can choose to process either a Loss of Other Coverage life event or a Dependent Over Age life event; both will have the same result.
In order to complete an enrollment with either life event, the employee can do the following:
-
Log into their Namely homepage.
-
Click the Enroll in Benefits tab on the springboard.
-
Once they click this link, they will see options for the kind of life event they can choose. They will select I had a major life event and need to update my benefits, then pick which life event they are opting to use.
-
They will enter the effective date on the next screen before proceeding to make their elections.
-
Note: the effective date should be the day after prior coverage is ending. If coverage extends to the end of the month, then first of the next month should be the effective date; if coverage ends on the employee's birthday, then the effective date should be the day after their birthday.

Once all benefits have been selected, the life event can be submitted for HR review and approval.
