Process for W2C / Amendment Requests

Amendments

Amendments are used to correct quarterly/annual returns that were filed with incorrect data to either the state or IRS agencies. 

In order to help expedite the amendment request process, the tax team has created the attached Amendment Request Form that will need to be completed (internally) and submitted with any W2C Request. The new form can be found in the following folder location on the share drive:

R:\CertiPay Online\Department\Taxes\Amendment Request Form 

Taxes also created an Amendment Request Form Overview as well to assist with each box within the form. This helps to ensure you are entering the correct data prior to submitting to the Tax Liaison, see attached. 

W2C

A form W2C is used to correct a W2 that was filed with incorrect data. Note, if there are W2C corrections, then there will most likely be amendments needed as well as a W3C, a company's transmittal of corrected wage and tax statements. Please see the attached W2C form that the client will need to complete prior to sending to the Tax Team. 

Submitting documents to Taxes

When all forms and corrections are completed it is time to send to the Tax Team. One of the below macros will be needed: 

Amendment Macro - Submit Amendment request to Tax Liaison

W2C Request - Incorrect SSN/Name Change

W2C Request - Wage & Tax Adj Needed (Note, depending on the circumstances an amendment may also be needed. Ask your lead/manager for assistance)

All paperwork and RTS files will need to be attached to each request sent to Taxes. Note, Taxes works requests on a first come first served basis. All requests will be put on hold during quarter/yearends.
