Tax File Overview: RTS & PTS Files
Reconciliation Tax Summary vs Period Tax Summary
What is the difference?
RTS files are pulled for quarterly runs
-
Contain quarterly data
-
Include monthly statistics for reporting purposes
-
Excludes employee level wages
PTS files are pulled for a per pay run basis
-
Contains payroll data on a per payrun basis
-
Includes employee level wage detail
When to use a RTS file?
A RTS file should be used during the implementation process when doing reconciliations for history loads. As for support, RTS files are pulled when submitting amendment requests to the Tax Team for both SSN adjustments and/or wage and tax adjustments.
When to use a PTS file?
PTS Files are automatically generated each day at 12 p.m. EST. Two criteria must be met for a payrun to be included in the file: 1) The payrun is a live run (i.e. not a historical entry), and 2) The payrun has been included in the ACH Debit file.
